Scottish Premiership champions Rangers are once again interested in signing Francis Amuzu from Vincent Kompany’s Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht, according to Ghana Soccer Net.
Under Steven Gerrard, Rangers’ wide players – be it Joe Aribo, Ryan Kent, Scott Wright or Ianis Hagi – tended to drift in-field, playing more like dual number tens rather than out-and-out wingers.
Things have changed under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Dutchman wants his wingers to be wingers; the chalk on their boots, leaving full-backs in a frenzy sort of wingers.
It is notable how close to the touchline Hagi and Kent have been located since Van Bronckhorst took Gerrard’s place in the Ibrox dugout.
So while Amuzu has been linked with the Glasgow giants since the Gerrard era, now might actually be a better time for the Belgium U21 international to make that long-awaited switch.
Could Francis Amuzu finally join Rangers?
The Ghana-born 22-year-old loves nothing more than to receive the ball with his toes treading the touchline, before dazzling defenders with his searing speed and nimble footwork.
Amuzu, equally comfortable on the right or the left, has three goals and four assists to his name so far this term.
Reports in Belgium suggest that Rangers have been watching the youngster since 2020.
And Amuzu, who has been likened to Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling, is understood to be valued at £7 million by Anderlecht.

Such a fee will see Amuzu join Ryan Kent as the second-most expensive signing in Rangers’ history. It remains to be seen, after recently posting annual losses of over £20 million, whether the Gers could stump up the sort of money Anderlecht want (Football Scotland).
“I think Francis can bring a lot to our team,” Man City legend Kompany said recently of a man who has also been linked with Serie A champions Inter Milan and Nottingham Forest (VP).
“Francis is making progress and always offers something. The competition will only make him better.”
Interestingly, Rangers were reported to have scouted Anderlecht’s recent Jupiler League clash with Charleroi – a game in which Amuzu started.
