Rangers decided not to push for Vladan Kovacevic – and the goalkeeper is now attracting lofty interest from Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.
One of the most bizarre aspects of Ross Wilson’s recruitment has been the lack of succession plan for Allan McGregor.
It looked like McGregor was on his way out of Rangers at the end of last season but the 40-year-old signed a new one-year deal.
Jon McLaughlin won’t be the long-term answer and it doesn’t look like Robby McCrorie will get that honour either.
Rangers really need to find their long-term goalkeeper and it looks like they have missed out on a potential star.

Rangers decided not to sign Vladan Kovacevic
We would forgive Rangers fans for not being all that familiar with Vladan KOvacevic.
The Bosnian goalkeeper was playing in his homeland with Sarajevo before heading to Poland with Rakow in 2021.
Kovacevic impressed with Rakow and put himself on the radar of clubs like Rangers, Augsburg, Bologna, Royal Antwerp, Lech Poznan and Legia Warsaw.
However, the Glasgow Evening Times report that Rangers dropped their interest in Kovacevic after scouting him on a number of occasions.
Just a month later, Kovacevic signed a new deal with Rakow and committed his future to the Ekstraklasa club.
28 clean sheets in 52 games is impressive stuff from Kovacevic and whilst Rangers chose not to sign him, he could now land a big move to Germany.
Kicker claim that Bayer Leverkusen are keen on signing Kovacevic as a replacement for Andrey Lunev, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Leverkusen want a goalkeeper who can really challenge Lukas Hradecky for the number one jersey and Kovacevic is emerging as a real target.
If Kovacevic ends up joining one of Germany’s biggest clubs, it would be more than fair to ask what Rangers are planning between the sticks.
A potential McGregor successor was there on Rangers’ radar but they chose not to sign him and keep the veteran Scot instead – and may now see Kovacevic secure a big move elsewhere.
