Rangers’ top managerial target Pedro Caixinha has been compared to Jurgen Klopp.

Nacional’s director of communications Saturnino Sousa has told The Scottish Sun that manager Pedro Caixinha plays a similar brand of football to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

It’s almost a month since Rangers parted ways with manager Mark Warburton, with the former Brentford boss allegedly resigning from his post, along with assistant David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland.

Whilst Graeme Murty has overseen three wins in his five games in charge – including Saturday’s 6-0 thumping of Hamilton Academical – he looks unlikely to win the job permanently given his lack of managerial experience.

A number of ex-Rangers men such as Alex McLeish, Frank de Boer and Derek McInnes were all linked with the job, but Rangers’ top target is something of a left-field choice.

Al-Gharafa boss Pedro Caixinha has emerged as the frontrunner for the job after recent talks with the Gers, and the Daily Star report that his appointment could be confirmed imminently.

It’s stated that the Rangers board have unanimously voted in favour of bringing Caixinha to the club, and the former Celtic scout looks set to return to Glasgow in the near future.

The 46-year-old – formerly of Uniao Leiria, Nacional and Santos Laguna – is now in Qatar with Al-Gharafa, meaning he’s something of an unknown manager to many Rangers fans.

However, a man who used to work with Caixinha – Nacional’s director of communications Saturnino Sousa – has told The Scottish Sun that Caixinha loves attacking football, and is similar to Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp.

Sousa added that he thinks Rangers will enjoy having him as their new boss, with fans no doubt hoping that he becomes the club’s very own Klopp.

“Pedro’s style of play is all-out attack,” said Sousa. “He wants his team to be at the highest fitness levels possible as everything is geared to non-stop offensive football. His teams score a lot of goals as the focus is certainly more on attack then defence. He is very similar in style to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. In Portugal we have a lot of coaches who set out to make sure they don’t concede any goals and then they try to score.”

“Pedro is the complete opposite of that. For him it is all about scoring goals. He would much prefer to win 5-4 than to win 1-0. I remember when he was our coach one of the matches finished 4-4. But, he was quite happy with that. The thing he hated most was 0-0 draws. It’s all to do with his personality and because bullfighting was one of his hobbies. It shows what kind of person he is. He is not afraid of a challenge. He is fearless and I think Rangers will enjoy having him.”
