Rangers legend Barry Ferguson discusses optimistic transfer deal.
Rangers have been urged to try and sign Adam Lallana by Ibrox legend Barry Ferguson.
Lallana is struggling for game time at Liverpool, where he previously played alongside Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
Barry Ferguson told PLZ Soccer that he would like to see Rangers make the ambitious move.
Liverpool signed Lallana from Southampton for £25 million in 2014.
Ferguson says it would be a signing which would clinch Rangers the title.
He said: “Adam Lallana is a top, top player and if Rangers get him they’ve got an even better chance of snatching the title away from Celtic.
“The guy is genuine quality. I’ve watched him long enough in a Liverpool jersey. The guy has fantastic ability, he can score goals and he’s an England international.
“It’s difficult to get into that Liverpool team with that top three they’ve got just now but he’s a top, top player.
“If Rangers pull that off I will need to give them a handshake.”
Rangers may have an inside track to Liverpool thanks to Steven Gerrard but a deal will be really difficult.
Lallana is a player who Reds boss Jurgen Klopp still greatly admires.
He told The Telegraph 10 days ago: “Adam is in the best moment since I’ve known him as a person and he will have a big part of our season. In training, everything was good.”
A move could only realistically happen if Lallana pushes for it and says he wants out.
With Liverpool hoping to win their first title for decades, it would be an odd time for the midfielder to quit.
If Rangers want him, they might have to wait until the summer at the earliest.
