Rangers Under-19’s suffered a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool away from home on Tuesday afternoon after the Reds scored two quick-fire goals in the first half against the Ibrox youngsters – and here are our Rangers player ratings:
Jacob Pazikas – 7
Could do little about any of the four goals, but otherwise pretty solid. Good with his feet when needed and kept the scoreline to a minimum the best he could. But that is seven goals conceded in three games, without a UEL clean sheet.
Jack Harness – 5
Some decent clips down the line and did his best to defend against the onslaught of Clark and Chambers on Liverpool’s left. But was overpowered with McCausland offering little to help the Rangers right-back.
Lewis Mackinnon – 4
Looked out of his depth for much of the afternoon. Slow compared to the Liverpool defenders, Mackinnon’s afternoon was summed up by an air shot midway through the second half. Cannonier’s energy was a problem for him.
Connor Allan – 6
Although his side did concede three goals, Allan did okay. Won headers, kept the in-form Cannonier as quiet as he possible could. Was the best of the two Rangers centre-backs by quite a considerable difference.
Robbie Fraser – 5
Really struggled, coming up against the speed and energy of ex-Celtic talent Ben Doak. The Liverpool man scored, while Fraser cut a frustrated figure for much of the game. He could not get to grip with Doak. Decent on the ball.

Paul Nsio – 3 (replaced by Allen, 73 mins)
Really struggled to get involved in the game and when he did, he was poor. Guilty of losing the ball just inside his own half on a few occasions, one moment where Liverpool raced forward. At the start of the second half, he lost the ball four or five times in the space of 30 seconds. Yellow card on 50 minutes for a poor tackle on Bobby Clark.
Mackenzie Strachan – 5 (replaced by Rice, 45 mins)
Did very little at the base of the Rangers midfield. A couple of simple passes but Liverpool overloaded the midfield and he hardly stood a chance. Even then, he did little to stop them. Rightly replaced at half-time by Rangers, and Rice.
Charlie Lindsay – 7
For a playmaker in a Rangers side that were pegged back throughout, Lindsay was hardly given the time on the ball to shine. But when the pocket-sized ace did get a chance, he displayed some nice touches. Good strike on 89 minutes.
Ross McCausland – 8 (replaced by Graham, 85 mins)
His side’s best in attack, and most pungent. A gorgeous cross into Robbie Ure in the first half after neat interplay on the left, that should have been scored. Another beautiful cross for Lovelace in second half, shot saved by Davies. Offered most in attack for Rangers.

Robbie Ure – 5 (replaced by Young, 88 mins)
Some decent hold-up play at times from the big Rangers striker, but he missed a golden chance with the score still at 0-0. A gorgeous cross from McCausland saw him unmarked in the box, but he inexplicably headed wide from 10 yards.
Zak Lovelace – 6 (replaced by Pasnik, 85 mins)
Some nice touches, but ultimately did very little in the final third and had to feed off scraps – with Liverpool dominating proceedings. Clearly a talent, but he will have hoped for more of the ball to show what he is capable of.
Rangers Under-19’s player ratings v Liverpool – Subs:
Bailey Rice (replaced Strachan, 45 mins)
Greg Allan (replaced Nsio, 73 mins)
Tyler Pasnik (replaced Lovelace, 85 mins)
Jordan Graham (replaced McCausland, 85 mins)
Connor Young (replaced Ure, 88 mins) – 7
Got the consolation goal for Rangers after a mistake right at the end from Liverpool goalkeeper Harvey Davies. Thumped the ball in first time from 12 yards, a good finish – a highlight of a poor day for Rangers.
