The Herald report that Rangers have seen a bid rejected to sign Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin, but they would only have to table a fee of £900k to land the talented ace – with Raskin’s contract at his current club due to expire in June.
Raskin, 21, has been a regular for one of Belgium’s biggest sides over the last few years in Standard Liege. But with his deal expiring in the summer, Standard opened talks to extend that deal. However, talks brown down between the two.
Since, Raskin has been training with the kids. While he is only 21 himself, it is a blow for Raskin given how important he has been for Standard over the last couple of seasons. Despite his tender age, he has clocked up 96 games for his side.
Rangers have got Todd Cantwell over the line and Raskin is expected to be the next. The Herald say Rangers have bid for Raskin. But Standard have rejected an offer, for a player his current manager Ronny Deila described as a “leader”.
But talks are ongoing between Rangers and Standard for Raskin. It is believed that Rangers would have to pay a fee of just £900,000 to bring him to Ibrox – a fee well within Rangers’ financial power. It looks likely a deal will go through.

Rangers need additions in the middle of the park. Steven Davis is out until the end of the season. John Lundstram’s form has been questionable and Glen Kamara has been playing with an injury. Ryan Jack’s deal expires this summer.
So, bringing in a young player that is good enough to shine already in a Rangers side under Michael Beale for just £900k is a no-brainer. Raskin would immediately improve the Rangers midfield – the Gers have got to pay the price.
