Michael Beale’s Rangers have been linked with Todd Cantwell, and Norwich City head coach David Wagner’s comments on his future (The Athletic) today suggest that a transfer to Ibrox this month is very much possible.

Rangers are among a number of teams who have been linked with Cantwell, and Wagner has said that the 24-year-old is in talks with other clubs.

Rangers target Todd Cantwell could leave Norwich City

Wagner said: “I think there is no secret. He will not be involved (at Preston on Saturday) for sure.

“He is having conversations with clubs. It makes sense that he takes his time now in this window and we will see after the window how everything progresses.

“But I think at the minute this is where his focus is on and this is totally OK.”

Encouraging comments

Now, Wagner has not named the clubs that the midfielder is in talks with.

And we do not expect him to really.

However, it is very likely that Rangers are among those given their reported interest in the former England Under-21 international.

Moreover Rangers boss Beale himself has hinted at a potential deal for Cantwell.

Cantwell is out of contract at Norwich at the end of the season.

TalkSPORT journalist Jim White reported this week that Rangers are holding talks over a potential deal for Cantwell.

TEAMtalk have reported that Rangers and Blackburn Rovers are keen on the midfielder.

A move to Rangers and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world could be very tempting for Cantwell, although it remains to be seen if the Gers will be able to come up with a bid that is acceptable to Norwich.
