Football Scotland claim that Michael Beale has decided to keep Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo at Ibrox this month despite interest in the Wales attacker – with Matondo yet to make real inroads at Rangers, and lacking in confidence.
Matondo, 22, joined Rangers in the summer from German side Schalke – costing the Gers a fee of £1.8million. He has since played 21 times in all competitions for the Gers. But he has failed to score, only laying on four assists for Rangers.
That is, despite a wonderful start that saw him score a goal in a win over West Ham in pre-season. Matondo has only managed three substitute appearances in Beale’s first six games – failing to make the squad in the last two outings.
Beale said recently that Matondo is suffering from a “crisis of confidence” at Rangers. However, Football Scotland report that despite interest in the winger from other clubs, Beale has decided to keep Matondo at Ibrox this month.

Beale has decided to keep Rangers winger Matondo at Ibrox, clubs keen
Rangers do have injuries in attack. Kemar Roofe has only just returned, while Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi remain on the sidelines. Hagi is expected to be involved again towards the end of the month. So, Rangers lack options in attack.
But their amount of options are beginning to improve. Even more so, with Todd Cantwell in Glasgow undergoing a medical at Ibrox – according to Vital Football. So, it might beneficial for Rangers and Matondo to let him go on loan.
However, Beale has decided to keep him at the club. The Rangers manager has said that he does not want to lose any of his squad and simply wants to add to it. So, it might be that Matondo remains at Ibrox as a squad player this month.
