Derek Ferguson has told Open Goal that Rangers star Alfredo Morelos is “disrespecting” his Ibrox teammates as he continues to struggle to sort out his fitness – fading out of the game against Celtic on Monday in the final stages.
Morelos, 26, has started four of Beale’s five games in charge this season, coming on as a sub against Ross County. He has scored two goals, and laid on an assist in that time. But Morelos missed two golden chances against Celtic.
With Antonio Colak and Kemar Roofe returning to fitness, Morelos may find his place in the side under threat. The Gers go to Dundee United this weekend, a difficult trip even though United sit in 11th place in the Premiership table.
Speaking on Open Goal, ex-Rangers midfielder Ferguson was discussing Colombia international Morelos. He says that the striker is actually being disrespectful to his teammates – who are eating well and sticking to the regime.
“Morelos is disrespectful to the rest of the players. They’re all in good nick, when they leave the training ground, they will all eat properly. They will drink properly. He’s not doing that. It’s disrespectful to the rest of the group.”

Ferguson: Rangers star Morelos disrespecting his Ibrox teammates
Morelos is not at the same fitness of his teammates. Beale can continue to praise him as much as he likes, but simply looking at the striker – you can tell, he has still not rediscovered his prior fitness. Concerns since the start.
Indeed, Gio van Bronckhorst ousted Morelos for a few matches – citing his attitude and fitness. That physicality has remained. An issue for Beale. With his deal up in June, and both Roofe and Colak back, something has got to give.
It might be that something finally clicks for Morelos. With just five goals this season, clubs will not be looking at Morelos as much as they have done in the past. He might realise he needs to work hard to earn a new Ibrox deal.
