Rangers want Todd Cantwell and their hopes of a January deal may be rising after he was dropped by Norwich City this afternoon.
The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are interested in luring Cantwell to Ibrox with Michael Beale putting him on his shopping list.
Rangers are yet to figure out just when they want to move for Cantwell though, given his contract situation.
Cantwell is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning they could chase a pre-contract agreement or offer a cut-price cash deal.
Once tipped for stardom after shining in the Premier League with Norwich, Cantwell has lost his way and needs to move on.
With no goals or assists this season, Beale must believe that he can unlock Cantwell’s ability – and the door may be open for a deal.

Rangers target Todd Cantwell left out of Norwich squad
Just hours after the links to Rangers emerged, new Norwich City boss David Wagner made a big decision.
Wagner not only didn’t pick Cantwell in his starting XI to face Blackburn Rovers today, but didn’t even put him on the bench.
Norwich lost the game 1-0 and are now out of the FA Cup, but many will wonder what is going on with Cantwell.
Norwich City reporter Paddy Davitt has asked the question to Wagner and the Canaries boss has simply indicated that Cantwell wasn’t selected to play.
There was a time when Cantwell was a vital player for Norwich and ultimately one of the first names on the team sheet.
Now, Cantwell can’t even get on the bench to impress a new manager, with his future at Carrow Road looking pretty bleak.
If Rangers really are interested in a deal, they may well be able to convince Norwich to sell for a knockdown fee before he walks away in the summer.
