Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos could leave Ibrox this summer.
Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has been quoted by The Scottish Sun as saying that the club will demand at least £20million for Alfredo Morelos.
The Colombian star has been banging in goals left, right and centre for Rangers since a 2017 move from HJK Helsinki in Finland.
Morelos has hit 28 goals in 42 games this season, adding to his 18 goals from last season, though his disciplinary record remains a huge concern.
Morelos has racked up 16 yellow cards and four red cards this season, becoming known as something of a hot-head, particularly against Aberdeen for some reason.
Despite those issues, there will no doubt be a host of clubs interested in signing Morelos this summer, and some may well believe that a move is inevitable off the back of his goal record.
The question would be just how much Rangers demand for Morelos, but there has at least been a hint from managing director Robertson.
Robertson has admitted that Rangers are looking at Celtic’s move to sell Moussa Dembele to Lyon for £20million (Independent), and are set to demand at least the same amount for Morelos.
“We rate Morelos at least the same as Dembele in terms of value,” said Robertson, quoted at a Q&A session in New Zealand.
Few would have thought that Dembele’s move would have such a big impact on Rangers, but it now seems that the Gers are using the £20million Celtic received as a starting point for Morelos, using the market to set the value of the 22-year-old.
