Rangers defender Nathan Patterson has added Scotland international to his growing list of accolades after the full-back made his debut for the national team in the win over Luxembourg. in the final warm-up game ahead of Euro 2020.

The Ibrox teen was left on the bench as Clarke opted for a strong XI against the minnows, with the side looking likely to be the team that starts the first game in the tournament – although he was given 30 minutes to impress.

It took just under 30 minutes for Scotland to open the scoring, QPR’s Lyndon Dykes and Che Adams linking up well before the Southampton striker netted at the near post.

Shortly afterward there was another boost for Scotland when the hosts were reduced to ten men for foul by Selimovic on Dykes with only the keeper to beat.

Despite a fairly dull opening half, Clarke resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes at the break – only introducing Billy Gilmour and Scott McKenna in place of Callum McGregor and Declan Gallagher.

With just under 30 minutes left, Patterson was brought on for his first cap after replacing Stephen O’Donnell.

Patterson has been sidelined since the 1-1 draw with St. Johnstone in April and incredibly he only made his debut for Scotland’s under-21s in September 2020.

Whether he gets the chance to impress when Scotland kick off their Euro 2020 campaign next Monday but he’s certainly put up a compelling case to start in his short career so far.
