Rangers targeting Steven Naismith should now be no-brainer

Former Glasgow Rangers forward Steven Naismith is reportedly ready to return to Ibrox and play for nothing for the rest of the season.

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Steven Naismith would be willing to play for Rangers for free until the end of the season as he seeks a move away from Norwich City.

Naismith has barely featured for the Canaries this season, and The Scottish Sun reports that he has offered to play for his old side for absolutely nothing until the summer – and that should persuade the Gers to make a move happen.

Given that Naismith had not played much this season, the Light Blues may have been forgiven for being wary about pursuing a deal for the 31-year-old, but his stunning pledge surely makes a bid a no-brainer for Graeme Murty’s men.

The Scottish Sun hints that Rangers do not have a significant amount of funds to spend, so the chance to land a player who knows Ibrox like the back of his hand and has featured regularly in the top two divisions of English football over the last few years up until this season is one that the Gers should grasp.

With Murty not having a particularly extensive group of strikers and attacking players to pick from, Naismith would undoubtedly be a brilliant addition to the ranks as the club look to get themselves back into second place in the Scottish Premiership.

It could certainly be argued that most of the better performers for Rangers this season have been the ones who have a clear passion for the club, and with Naismith clearly boasting that and proving it by offering to play for free, the Gers should not hesitate to take him up on his offer.
