Steven Gerrard looks set to add the Rangers trialist to his Ibrox ranks.
The Rangers target, Matt Polster, has spoken of a ‘new beginning’ on Instagram, after Steven Gerrard suggested that the American’s transfer to Ibrox was imminent.
A free agent after leaving Chicago Fire at the end of the 2018 Major League Soccer season, Polster had been on trial at Rangers.
And Gerrard told BBC Sport on Tuesday: “He [Polster] has travelled to France to get the work permit application complete. We are confident that one will happen.”
Polster later posted the following image from the French capital, Paris.
Polster played against Gerrard while the Rangers manager was with Los Angeles Galaxy, and described him as his ‘childhood idol’ in 2016.
The 25-year-old United States international can play in multiple positions, but has been predominantly used at right-back and central midfield throughout his career.
His Ibrox arrival would follow those of Steven Davis, Jermain Defoe and Andy Firth this month.
Rangers have also agreed pre-contract deals for Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones.
