Glasgow Rangers reportedly want to bring the striker to Ibrox at the end of the season.

It was reported by the London Evening Standard this week that Rangers want to sign Karlan Grant on a pre-contract deal as Steven Gerrard continues looking to build his squad at Ibrox.

But The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63) is now reporting that Gers target is now attracting Premier League attention with Huddersfield Town keen on signing the Charlton striker.

Grant has scored 14 goals in League One this term, including the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Accrington Stanley. And the London Evening Standard suggested that Rangers want to agree a deal that will see the 21-year-old move to the Scottish Premiership when his contract at The Valley expires in the summer.

However, The Sun on Sunday (20/1; page 63) suggests that the Terriers are also interested in Grant, who will cost £1.5 million to sign during the January transfer window.

Rangers potentially have an advantage in that they can already discuss terms with the striker. But perhaps Charlton may be more willing to sell Grant permanently if they get a sense that he will not extend his contract with the Addicks and is considering heading to Ibrox.

Huddersfield may be struggling in the top flight, but the chance to head to the John Smith’s Stadium will surely appeal to Grant. So if Rangers do now manage to win the race by agreeing a pre-contract move, that would have to go down as another transfer coup from the Gers.
