Rangers have been heavily linked with signing Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman, but he seemingly fancies joining Feyenoord instead.
The Gers have added two midfielders already this summer with Nnamdi Ofoborh and John Lundstram arriving on free transfers from Bournemouth and Sheffield United respectively.
Ofoborh has encountered a heart problem in pre-season though, and Rangers could now move to bring in another midfielder to strengthen Steven Gerrard’s squad.
One of the main names in the frame is Veerman, with the Heerenveen star surely on the move before the transfer deadline.
The Times reported in July that Rangers made a £3.8million bid for Veerman, but Heerenveen turned it down – and the Gers are considering another option.
Veerman, 22, joined Heerenveen from Volendam in 2019, and has hit 14 goals and 16 assists in 61 appearances for the Eredivisie club, around one goal involvement every other game.
Rangers aren’t alone in chasing Veerman though, who can play in holding midfield or a little further forward.
Feyenoord want to land Veerman and bring him to Rotterdam, and Veerman has now opened up on those rumours.

Speaking to ESPN, Veerman confirmed an offer has been received from Feyenoord, and he could be ‘very happy’ to go there if a deal can be thrashed out.
“My management have received some kind of offer,” said Veerman. “I think they have asked Heerenveen how much they want for me. So in the end I hear that they have not made an official offer with Heerenveen, but that they really want me.”
“Yes, I would be a very happy man if I can go there. It could be a good step for me. I certainly think so,” he added.
