The lifelong Rangers fan played against Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox last month.

A Rangers-supporting Scottish Championship footballer has got fans of two clubs talking after showing up at Ibrox on Thursday.
Lawrence Shankland, the Ayr United striker who played in his side’s 4-0 defeat at Rangers’ home ground a month ago, posted a photo of himself standing in the Bill Struth Main Stand ahead of the Gers’ Europa League draw against Spartak Moscow.
Shankland has scored an impressive 19 goals in 16 games for Ayr this season and is said to have a host of clubs chasing his signature.
Whether Rangers are one of those remains to be seen – and with Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty among the goals it could be argued there is little need for the 23-year-old at Ibrox – although the following Gers fans evidently would not mind…

Glasgow-born Shankland, who used to have a season-ticket at Rangers, began his career at Queens Park before permanent moves to Aberdeen and Ayr.
