Glasgow Rangers brought Thomas Isherwood to Ibrox on trial back in May, but he ultimately headed elsewhere.

Every club seems to have a story about a player who is snubbed after arriving for a trial and goes on to haunt that particular side further down the line. Some Rangers fans may have wondered whether Thomas Isherwood could have proved to be that player after he trained with the Gers last summer.
The Daily Record reported in May 2018 that Rangers had taken the youngster on a week’s trial ahead of his Bayern Munich contract expiring. Given his connections with the Bavarian club, it may have been a report that left supporters feeling optimistic that the Gers could be on the verge of a real coup.
It is not clear why Isherwood did not end up moving to Ibrox on a permanent basis, but he did end up securing a deal before the season started as he joined League One side Bradford City.
Unfortunately for the 20-year-old, life at Valley Parade has not gone to plan, with the defender making just three appearances for the Bantams.

And if Rangers needed anymore convincing that they made the right decision not to sign Isherwood, they perhaps only need to look at a report from Swedish outlet Expressen.

Of course, the change in management at Bradford since Isherwood arrived makes it less surprising that he is free to leave. But the fact that they reportedly do not want a fee before letting him go seems to say a lot about his spell in England’s third tier.
So while some Rangers fans may rue the club not signing certain players when they had them on trial, it appears that Isherwood is one option they looked at where they made exactly the right call.
