Glasgow Rangers defender Lee Hodson has been linked with a move away this summer despite only arriving at Ibrox last year.
Rangers’ Lee Hodson has been asked about his future
Lee Hodson has told Rangers’ official website that he is solely focused on the final two games of the season after being asked whether he has held any talks with Pedro Caixinha regarding his Ibrox future.
Hodson has endured a difficult first season with the Gers, often having to settle for being James Tavernier’s understudy on the right-hand side of the defence.
The Northern Ireland international has made just 10 Scottish Premiership appearances this term, and while he has earned some praise along the way, he has arguably not done enough to really justify being given more opportunities in the side given the rivals he has for a place in the team.
That struggle may have led some to believe that Charlton’s interest in the defender (via The Scottish Sun) may have led to a summer exit, but Hodson is adamant that the upcoming games against Aberdeen and St Johnstone are his sole focus.
Hodson has endured a frustrating year
“To be honest, I’m not really thinking about that. There are two games left of the season and they are the most important things at the moment,” he told Rangers’ official website.
“I’m just concentrating on the games, working hard in training and that is my only focus at the moment. Whatever happens, happens.
“We can worry about it at the end of the season once these games are done. My focus is fully on these last two games of the season.”
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
While the 25-year-old’s form and lack of opportunities may have left some supporters not too disappointed if he left, it is arguably the competition and depth that Rangers boast at right-back that they need all over the pitch.
While neither Hodson or Tavernier has enjoyed a brilliant season, they should have the ability to bring the best out of each other as they battle for chances, so perhaps considering letting the former go may be a mistake.
