Glasgow Rangers saw a number of players leave Ibrox for the Championship in the summer, so could Ryan Hardie become the latest to make that move?

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Queens Park Rangers are keeping a keen eye on Rangers forward Ryan Hardie and are considering making a move for the youngster.

With Hardie’s deal expiring at the end of the season, as reported by The Scottish Sun, and with the 20-year-old struggling for chances within the first-team this term, it may be tempting for the Scottish Premiership side to consider any bid that comes in, especially if it does not see Hardie head for a divisional rival.

But based on the seasons that the players who swapped Ibrox for Championship clubs in the summer have enjoyed, it would absolutely no surprise if Hardie being allowed to leave for Loftus Road ends up haunting Rangers.

After being made available by former boss Pedro Caixinha, Martyn Waghorn, Joe Garner and Barrie McKay all joined Championship clubs during the last window – with the former pair heading to Ipswich, while McKay joined Nottingham Forest.

While the trio all enjoyed a lot more first-team football than Hardie has done, it is surely fair to say that none of the three had enjoyed the best of seasons during what would prove to be their final year at Ibrox.

Since then however, they have all gone on to kick off impressive spells at their new clubs, with Garner and Waghorn scoring six and 10 goals for the Tractor Boys respectively, while only one player in the entire division has provided more assists than the seven that McKay – who has also scored five times – has contributed.

Hardie is surely unlikely to go into the QPR first-team anytime soon if he did move, but he appears to boast a considerable amount of potential, and Rangers should brace themselves, if they do decide to sell, for another one of their players to go and thrive in England at some stage in the future.
