The Ibrox star is pleased with what he’s seeing from his Rangers teammate.

Morelos is again taking the Scottish game by storm this season and has already netted 12 times.
While his all-round game is superb, one of his weaknesses is an inability to effectively communicate with many of his teammates on the pitch, unable to speak the language predominately used in the dressing room.
However, after Sunday’s match away to St Johnstone, his striking support Defoe feels he’s starting to catch on.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the veteran explained: “Before that game I had said to Alfredo: When you score, make sure you run over to me’. I said it in English, just like that.
“Then he scored and celebrated, then he turned round and ran over so I thought: ‘Oh!’ Alfredo has been brilliant.
“It is difficult with the language, but his English is improving. It was nice when he ran over after scoring.”
Would learning English improve his game at Rangers?
It has to be said, Morelos has done not too badly without speaking English well so far. It doesn’t seem to impact the way he plays the game and hits the back of the net.
However, adding that string to his bow could allow him to linkup with his teammates in even more effective fashion.
It may also help him navigate the tricky gaze of match officials too, something that he struggle with last term.

Ultimately the most important thing is his attitude and application in approaching the game, so even if he does not become fluent it’s unlikely to be a big deal.
Defoe though certainly seems pleased that he is able to get through to his teammate. Rangers fans will be hoping that relationship continues to flourish.
