Rangers striker Chris McKee will face a Scottish FA disciplinary panel on Thursday as the teenager sweats over a lengthy ban for “excessive misconduct” while on loan with Brechin last season.
McKee was sent off in Brechin’s playoff final defeat by Kelty Hearts that condemned them to the Highland League, with the young Rangers striker said to be inconsolable after his dismissal.
The Northern Irish youth international was later accused of using homophobic language to earn his red card, with it the Rangers youngster left sweating over the summer.
If found guilty of breaching disciplinary rule 202, McKee will face a heavy ban and probable fine from the Scottish FA – with Rangers also having vowed to thoroughly investigate the claims.
Youngster could have key role to play for Rangers B in Lowland League
McKee has garnered an impressive reputation in his time at Ibrox and the Northern Irish youth will have been expected to have played a key role in the Lowland League this season for the B team.
While that could be in doubt pending the outcome of his disciplinary hearing, McKee will be hoping the SFA don’t come down too heavily on him.
However, given what he is accused of, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was banned for as many as half-a-dozen games.
