Aston Villa have seemingly expressed an interest in Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and Glen Kamara recently.
After promotion to the Premier League, Aston Villa have started off the new campaign in a positive and encouraging manner, as two Rangers players have recently been linked with the club.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Rangers’ midfield pocket rocket Glen Kamara is attracting interest from Aston Villa, and their Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
Added with that, The Scottish Sun previously claimed that Alfredo Morelos’ dazzling displays in the Scottish Premiership have caught the eye of the same two clubs from England’s top-flight – Villa and Palace.
Whilst Villa’s start to the new Premier League season has been one which the fans will be pleased with, there is still space for more quality and bite to be added, especially in the final third.
Purely on how Dean Smith’s sets Villa up, they will score more goals and create more chances than the average promoted teams have done from the past – the same can be applied to Sheffield United and Norwich City.
But that doesn’t mean that when the January transfer window re-opens that Villa shouldn’t be looking to boost his forward line because it is an area that Smith needs to look at again.
Whilst a player like Kamara is of great quality, and someone who has reacted well to parting ways with Arsenal during the early part of his career, the defensive-minded midfielder simply isn’t needed at the club.
His Rangers teammate, Morelos, who is also tipped to make a switch to Villa Park, is more needed in the Midlands because he could add that bite and competition Villa needs and is looking for in the forward areas.
Villa’s summer signing Wesley has been leading the line in the Premier League, whilst youngster Keinan Davis has been back-up to the Brazilian and has been used as a first option for the League Cup games.
Smith is already stacked up in the middle of the park, and a player like Kamara would simply be used a squad player if he were to make the switch from Ibrox to Villa Park.
But someone like Morelos wouldn’t just light up Villa, he has the capabilities of lighting up the Premier League also because whilst he has an edge to his game, he has an edge with quality, and that’s what Villa need.
Plus, he is a natural goalscorer, who is more of an all-rounder, and a player that would instantly push the strikers trying to prove their worth at Villa, at this moment in time.
Whilst a deal for Morelos or anyone at Rangers seems very unlikely in these coming months, it doesn’t mean that the Columbian cannot be persuaded to move ship next summer.
