Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers kick off their Scottish Premiership season on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard, manager of Rangers on the side line during the Pre-Season Friendly between Rangers FC and Blackburn Rovers at Ibrox Stadium on July 21, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Steven Gerrard has revealed via Rangers’ YouTube channel that Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are unavailable for Rangers’ Premiership opener tomorrow, adding that Steven Davis is a doubt.

The Gers kick off their domestic campaign with a trip to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

But Rangers’ long-term absentees Dorrans and Murphy won’t be going to Rugby Park.

The Ibrox boss says that Dorrans – who hasn’t played for the light Blues since September – is out with a calf problem, while Murphy, absent for a full year, has a groin ‘niggle’.

He told a press conference via Rangers’ YouTube channel: “Jamie Murphy has a niggle in his groin which has set him back a few days and Graham Dorrans has reported a calf issue. We scanned it last night and still waiting for the results.

“We’ve got a doubt with Steven Davis which we’ll check tomorrow.”

Davis is definitely the biggest blow here, if he is indeed ruled out.

The Rangers midfielder has started two of the Gers’ four Europa League qualifiers and, judging by how strong he ended last season, he’ll be champing at the bit again this time around.

But such is the strength of Gerrard’s squad now, he should have enough options to cope with the Northern Irishman’s absence.
