Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers lost Josh Windass this past summer.

Josh Windass of Rangers looks dejected after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Josh Windass has been opening up on his Rangers spell recently.

The English playmaker, who left Rangers to join Wigan Athletic in the summer, told talkSPORT that he doesn’t believe the Gers’ should’ve accepted the £2 million bid.

In addition to that, Windass also claimed that manager Steven Gerrard was planning to play him on the wing – something that would’ve qualified as a mistake.

The 24-year-old netted 17 goals in all competitions last season, but 16 of them came in a playmaker role.

Originally, Pedro Caixinha was playing him on the left-hand side of attack to little effect, but Graeme Murty transformed the player by giving him a more central role.

He ultimately flourished and went on to become of the best players in Scotland last season, but he wouldn’t have been the same Windass this time around if Gerrard had played him wide.

With that in mind, the departure probably suits all parties, because £2 million for the Josh Windass that played under Caixinha is a great deal.
