Rangers are seemingly edging towards appointing a Director of Football.

Rangers have today released a statement regarding their organisational structure, and hinted that the appointment of a new Director of Football is ‘imminent’.
The Gers have undergone huge changes in 2017, as manager Mark Warburton left the club, along with assistant boss David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland, with goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart also leaving in recent weeks.
Pedro Caixinha has arrived as Warburton’s replacement, and he has brought coaches Helder Baptista, Pedro Malta and Jose Belman with him – but there is still work to be done for the Gers.
Not only does Caixinha want a ‘local’ coach to help him adjust to life in Scotland, but the club also want to appoint a Director of Football to take over McParland’s role, overseeing transfers.
Three weeks ago, Southampton’s 34-year-old Director of Scouting Ross Wilson rejected the job, as reported by BBC Sport, and their search has been put on the back burner in recent weeks.
Now though, Rangers have today released a statement on their official website regarding changes to their organisational structure – and buried in the statement is the line that the appointment of a Director of Football is now ‘imminent’.

It remains to be seen who comes in to take the job following Wilson’s snub, but former Tottenham man Paul Mitchell has been heavily touted for the role.
Mitchell left White Hart Lane earlier this month, and with no deal struck so far, Rangers could have a surprise up their sleeve when it comes to appointing a Director of Football.
