Rangers right-back James Tavernier has taken to Twitter to revel in Leeds United winning promotion to the Premier League.
The Rangers captain and defender is a Leeds fan, and the former Newcastle United man is overjoyed to see the Whites back in the top flight of English football.
Tavernier has posted a one-word tweet in response to the Whites clinching automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.
West Bromwich Albion suffered a 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town away from home in the Championship this evening, with the result meaning that the Whites will finish in the top two this season no matter whatever happens in the final games of the season.
While Leeds will be aiming to make an immediate impact in the Premier League next season, Rangers will be determined to stop their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row in 2020-21.
Tavernier is an important player in manager Steven Gerrard’s team, and he will be expected to play a leading role in the Gers’ quest.
