Rangers substitute Scott Wright has told Sky Sports that Steven Gerrard wanted him to use his pace against Celtic in the Old-Firm derby at the weekend.
Rangers managed to pick up a 1-1 draw at Parkhead on Sunday when, truthfully, they weren’t at their best.
Rangers couldn’t really sustain any pressure on Celtic, in what was potentially a slightly tired performance after a busy week.
Gerrard did turn to the energetic Wright to try and inject some life into his side’s attack.
And the 23-year-old revealed that he was brought on in attempt to win the game for Rangers.
“He just thought they would be tiring a little bit and to try and bring my pace and a bit of energy to the game, he felt the game had gone a bit flat,” Wright said.
“This is what I tried to do, get on the ball and hopefully try and make some things happen.”

Unfortunately for Wright and Rangers he was unable to make a particularly big impact on the contest.
The Light Blues weren’t able to find a winner but, crucially, they did keep their unbeaten record in tact.
Wright could be given plenty more first-team opportunities in the coming weeks at Rangers, as Gerrard has already hinted that he will be looking to rotate his side between now and the end of the campaign.
