The Ibrox midfielder has never felt better than at Rangers.

Making 15 appearances for the Gers already this season, the Canadian international hasn’t quite hit the heights of his form last term.
Nonetheless, he remains an integral member of Gerrard’s first-team.
That’s despite having to play catch-up with his teammates early in the campaign. He missed the club’s pre-season preparations due to participation internationally in the Gold Cup.
However, he now claims he’s never felt better or fitter in his career to date.
As quoted by The Herald, he said: “I feel physically that I am at my peak.
“I’ve never been the fastest and I’ve never been the sharpest, but my running feels consistent and in terms of my fitness I’d say this is my peak.
“I look after myself better than I ever have in my career, so I feel just now I am at that time where I really have to look after myself and put the mileage in for the team and for myself to make this the most successful part of my career.”
Arfield’s future
The attacking midfielder’s declaration is obviously great news for Rangers, especially ahead of a brutal schedule between now and the end of the year.
Although the player is about to turn 31, it sounds like he has plenty to offer the Ibrox outfit for years to come. There’s every chance he becomes a senior and experienced veteran at the club.
His current contract doesn’t expire until 2022.

As he notes, pace has never been a huge part of his game, relying more on his reading of the game and interchange with teammates.
If he can continue to show the ambition to make runs beyond the defensive line and play in attackers around him, Gerrard will continue to select him.
