Rangers star Russell Martin responds to Celtic ace Scott Brown

Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face each other in the Scottish Cup this weekend.

Rangers defender Russell Martin has told The Scottish Sun that he and his teammates are not haunted by the defeat to Celtic at Ibrox last month.

Celtic midfielder Brown recently told The Scottish Sun that Rangers will be feeling the affect of their 3-2 defeat to the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership.

The former Scotland international midfielder, who has been on the books of the Bhoys since the summer of 2007 when he moved from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million, made the comments ahead of the Scottish Cup semi-final tie between the Hoops and the Gers at Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers defender Martin, who joined the Gers on loan from Norwich City in the Championship in England in the January transfer window, has stated that Graeme Murty’s players have not been affected by the defeat.

Martin told The Scottish Sun: “It’s certainly not in my head because I didn’t play. I know what Broony is like, we haven’t beaten them for a while but it doesn’t stop the belief we can.

“We must demonstrate the progress we’ve made, even since that game, and believe in the game plan and our strengths.”

Celtic will head into the Scottish Cup semi-final tie as favourites, but Rangers could give the Hoops a run for their money.

If the Gers score an early goal, then it could be be tricky for Brendan Rodgers’s side.
