Rangers defender Russell Martin will regret blowing his big chance at Ibrox.

Glasgow Rangers defender Russell Martin appears to have blown his chance of signing for the Gers after a disappointing loan spell.
The Scotsman report Martin is one of eight players Rangers will ditch this summer, with his loan agreement coming to an end.
It is inevitable after several disappointing performances, most notably the 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat.

That does not mean the rejection will be any less painful for Martin, who hoped signing for Rangers would revitalise his career.
Martin was down in the dumps at Norwich when he signed, having been overlooked by Canaries boss Daniel Farke.
A lack of match practice did not help him at Rangers, but the Light Blues feel they have seen enough not to want to take a second chance.

It leaves Martin in a tough spot, unwanted by both Rangers and Norwich, and he is unlikely to get a chance as good as the chance to prosper at Ibrox again.
Rangers was a huge opportunity for him, and there will not be one as big in England or in Scotland for him.
Martin can still rebuild his career and get better from a personal perspective, but as far as the stage goes, the only way from here is down.
