Rangers need more competition up front if they are going to win trophies this season.

Rangers’ adventure under Steven Gerrard got off to a decent start as they recorded a 2-0 win in the Europa League.
A clean sheet was particularly pleasing for the Gers but there were some disappointing performances too.
One which stood out was Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos, who did not offer enough of a threat up front.
Morelos was beaten to headers, looked a little off the pace, and did not manage to score.
Last season he failed to score in four matches against Celtic and is still haunted by that heading into this coming season despite playing well in spurts and finishing the season as Rangers’ top scorer.
Against Shkupi, Morelos’ performance highlighted that Steven Gerrard needs more options up front and this is where he must focus in the transfer market.

Rangers recently signed Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq, who is a different style of player, but he is only on a loan deal.
An inconsistent club career so far would not leave Rangers too confident if Morelos were to pick up an injury.
More signings are needed, especially if another new face prompts Morelos to raise his game.
If Rangers are going to win silverware this season, they need more than Morelos and Sadiq.
