Rangers star Josh Windass says he was angry at his own performances

Rangers fans have not been pleased with Josh Windass’ performances since he came to Ibrox, and the winger shares their frustration.

Rangers winger Josh Windass has told The Telegraph he was angry at his own performances for the Glasgow club.

Windass scored in Rangers’ weekend win over Hearts, but this was the exception for him in a very frustrating season so far.

Now with manager Pedro Caixinha sacked and set to be replaced, Windass is hoping for a fresh start.

He said: “I was angry. I’ve missed a few chances in the last few games.

“I think my performances have been reasonably good but it gets tarnished when you miss a few chances, important chances. I tried not to let it get to me and obviously the goal has done me the world of good.”

Windass had been heavily criticised online for his below par displays, and his goal will relieve the pressure a little.

Much will depend on Rangers’ new manager when he is appointed and whether Windass can gel under him.

But the removal of Caixinha appears at least to have lifted a cloud over some of the Rangers players and given them belief that they can make a fresh start.

Windass may be into his final chance to show that he deserves to wear the Rangers shirt, and his goal might help turn some of the ill-feeling towards his prior performances around.
