Comments from Rangers defender Jon Flanagan show that perhaps the team got a bit too caught up in the moment.
Asked if Rangers are title contenders after their win over St Johnstone, Flanagan responded: “I think so, yeah. I think we all knew we had to put on a good performance today and we showed that. From the off we were ruthless.”

While some will agree Rangers should be setting their sights high and being bold, the players might want to start being more reserved.
Until they can start putting together a consistent run of form and a winning streak, it’s too early to have realistic talk of the title.
Flanagan’s comments show Rangers’ players could have got a bit too caught up with their home form and big results, and are looking too far ahead.
Right now they need to take it week by week and not look too far ahead. If Rangers start getting caught up in believing they are contenders, that’s when it gets dangerous, as they discovered to their cost this weekend.
