Rangers star Ryan Jack has set his sights on returning to action in time for the Light Blues starting pre-season training after he was forced to undergo surgery and miss the chance of playing for Scotland at Euro 2020.
The midfielder has struggled with injuries over the last 12 months before having an operation to get to the root of his problems near the end of Rangers’ dominant charge towards the Scottish Premiership title.
With Scotland set to kick off their Euro 2020 campaign later today when they face the Czech Republic at Hampden, Jack admits he is “gutted” at hiving missed out but is aiming to rejoin his Ibrox team-mates when they return to training later this summer.
“I”m gutted to miss out,” Jack told Sky Sports. “The injury came at the wrong time – as it always does it football – but I’m doing alright. I’m in the middle of rehab at the minute. It’s a 12-week injury so I’m looking to be back for pre-season.
“When I found out I had to get the surgery, the first thought was whether it can wait until after the Euros but it was a needed done straight away so I had to deal with that disappointment – I was gutted for weeks.”
Jack’s return will be huge for Rangers
Despite missing half of last season, Jack’s importance to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team can’t be understated.
The former Aberdeen star’s defensive prowess in front of the back four plays a massive part in helping to break down attacks and get the Light Blues on the front foot.

He’d also started to add some goals to his game before his most recent injury and Rangers fans will be hoping that’s something he can continue to contribute when he finally makes his return to action.
