Lundstram has been involved in pre-season friendlies for Gerrard’s side since making the move north from Sheffield United and the Liverpudlian confessed that everything at Rangers is “built to win”

Despite not really being renowned for his goalscoring prowess – Lundstram has scored 14 times in almost 300 professional appearances – Gerrard clearly sees something in the midfielder that gives him the confidence he can bring goals to the table.

“It’s massive. That was a big part of me coming to such a historic club,” Lundstram told Sky Sports. “When you see the facilities and the surroundings, everything here is built to win.

“They can expect me to give everything for the shirt, everything for the badge, everything for them, up and down the pitch. Hopefully, I will chip in with goals as well.

“He (Gerrard) wants me to chip in with goals, be a goalscoring midfielder. Hopefully, I can bring a bit of experience to the team and help them push that bit further and get to the Champions League.”

Lundstram’s signing makes Rangers midfield places much tougher to earn

The arrival of Lundstram this summer will make the competition for places in the starting XI much tougher and it will be interesting to see how the Englishman is utilised.

Many had expected him to be used as a replacement/challenger for Ryan Jack’s place in the side after the Scotland star’s injury woes.

With only a week to go until the competitive action gets started for Rangers, fans won’t have long to wait to see just how Gerrard uses Lundstram.
