Rangers star Glen Kamara is reportedly attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs after an impressive time season at club level continued into Finland’s Euro 2020 debut – but suggestions by his international boss Markku Kanerva that he needs to play for “bigger” clubs to continue his development are wide of the mark.

The Finnish boss was quoted by France 24 as he spoke about the classy midfielder, but with the Champions League on the horizon and a title defence to get through, there’s still plenty of room for growth at Ibrox for Kamara.

The former Dundee midfielder is a reported target for the likes of Watford, Arsenal, Southampton, Burnley, Brighton and Leeds United but there’s not really a host of clubs who can legitimately claim to be bigger than Rangers chasing his signature.

If Kamara was to go to one of the Premier League sides regularly challenging for the title or sustaining deep runs in Europe then there would be a possible case to make for his departure, but he has the chance at Ibrox to challenge for trophies every year and learn under one of the best midfielders of his generation in Steven Gerrard.

No pressure on Rangers to sell Kamara

The improvement in Kamara since is £50k move from Dundee to Rangers in January 2019 is clear to see and the midfielder is now capable of competing agains the best the continent has to offer – at club and international level.

With two years left on his contract at Ibrox, there’s no pressure on Rangers to sell Kamara just now either and Gers fans will be hoping the Finn wants to stick around in Glasgow a bit longer.

His performances for the Light Blues have made him one of the first names on Gerrard’s team-sheet every week and, despite the Gers being in the market for midfielders this summer, Kamara will be key if Rangers are to make 55 become 56.
