Rangers defender Danny Wilson has revealed his determination to get back into the Scotland set-up, in an interview with Rangers TV.

The 24-year old has been capped five times for the national side but his last came in 2011 and he is keen to return once his club form improves.

“I want to be back playing for my country, but I know I’m only going to do that by playing well for Rangers. Until I’ve sorted my form out here, I won’t even be thinking about that,” said Wilson.

“I’m starting to hopefully grow into the season here, but Scotland is at the back of my mind and all my focus for the moment is on Rangers.

“I missed the first game through suspension so I’m just trying to get up to speed, but I was happy with parts of my game against Dundee and against Motherwell, but I still feel I can do better, and we can do better as a team. Hopefully that will happen in the not too distant future.”

The central defender missed the opening league game through suspension but returned to the starting line-up for the next two and slowly looks to be regaining the form he showed last season.

Wilson and Rob Kiernan were a strong partnership in the Championship but they will have to improve as a duo if they are to cope with regular high-quality opposition.

The Gers have failed to keep a clean sheet in their first three league games and the team will be under no illusions as to the challenges they will face in each and every fixture this season.

Clint Hill was brought in as cover and competition for Wilson, in particular, and Warburton will hope that the presence of the experienced defender drives Wilson on to a higher performance level.

Rangers will look to make it three league wins on the spin when they face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in this evening’s encounter.
