Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has commented on his future plans to leave Ibrox.
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is off on international duty this week having been recalled by Colombia, and he’s been speaking about his future whilst away.
The 23-year-old has been in blistering form this season, smashing 14 goals and five assists in 18 games for Rangers whilst rotating in and out of the team with Jermain Defoe.
Morelos now finds himself back in Carlos Quieroz’s Colombia squad, and he’ll be looking to feature against Chile and Algeria in friendlies this week.
He’ll have to fight for playing time with Duvan Zapata, Luis Muriel, Roger Martinez and Luis Diaz, but he seemingly has a real chance to play.
Morelos may though feel that he would have a more secure sport in Quieroz’s squad if he was playing in the Premier League, and he’s discussed the possibility of moving to England one day.
Speaking to Kick Off WIN in Colombia, as quoted by The Scottish Sun, Morelos reiterated his desire to play in the Premier League, and knows he needs to keep scoring to get there.
“I’ve spoken a lot to Steven Gerrard this season. It’s thanks to him that I am here,” said Morelos. “He’s just a good man-manager and a great coach. Things have gone really well for me at Rangers this season. I’ve scored in just about every game for them.”
“It’s not a secret that I admire the English Premier League. I have to keep scoring goals for Rangers if I am ever to get a chance of moving to a club there,” he added.
Premier League clubs will surely be keeping tabs on Morelos, and the Daily Star reported over the summer that West Ham United were particularly keen on signing the former HJK Helsinki star.
The Hammers need another striker to support Sebastien Haller in the final third, and Morelos certainly fits the bill, so they may be the prime candidates to move for Morelos in 2020, especially if he keeps up his stunning form this season.
