Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey has posted on Instagram after the Wales ace suffered defeat in his first-ever Old Firm derby against Celtic at Ibrox. Ramsey opened the scoring in the 2-1 loss – and has now broken his silence.
Ramsey, 31, started just his second Scottish Premiership match on Sunday as Rangers played host to their bitter rivals. Moments after the start, Ramsey was putting the ball in the back of the net – scoring two in two.
It followed his tap-in against Dundee. But Celtic were the better side for the majority of the match and came roaring back to lead at the half-time break – goals from Old Firm veteran Tom Rogic, and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
With Rangers needing to at least avoid defeat to remain within arm’s length of Celtic, the Hoops held out to win 2-1. It sees Ange Postecoglou’s side go six points clear at the top of the Premiership – the title race is all but over.
Ramsey broke his silence on Tuesday morning following the loss to Celtic and admits that it hurts to take. But the Rangers ace stated that all eyes are now on Thursday, when Rangers travel to Portugal to take on Braga.
Have Rangers, and Ramsey, lost the title race to Celtic already?
Football is a funny game. But Rangers are now six points behind Celtic and with six games to play – including another Old Firm derby, it looks as though the title is on its way to Parkhead. Rangers have to take 18 points from six.
That is to even stand a chance. If they do so, it would see them take three off of Celtic – and then hope Ange Postecoglou’s side slip up elsewhere. But Celtic simply look too strong at the moment.
