Rangers lost 2-1 to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Friday night.
Graeme Murty
Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty has told The Scottish Sun that he is being given help by a mystery assistant, as he won’t reveal the name of the person in question.
The Gers suffered a fourth defeat in six games on Friday evening as they were beaten 2-1 away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who sat bottom of the Scottish Premiership table at kick off.
Inverness took the lead on the stroke of half time as Greg Tansey whipped home a superb long-range strike, only for Rangers to hit back after the break, with Lee Wallace being fouled inside the penalty area, allowing Martyn Waghorn to grab the equaliser.
However, after Iain Vigurs had seen his penalty saved by Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, Caley striker Billy Mckay popped up with stunning overhead kick to win the game for the hosts.
Aberdeen could now move nine points clear of Rangers in the battle for second place when they take on Ross County this afternoon.
The defeat only added to the problems at Ibrox, as Rangers are currently without a permanent manager following Mark Warburton’s acrimonious departure from the club earlier this month.
Former Scotland international Graeme Murty has been taking charge of the last three games, of which Rangers have only won one – and that was the Scottish Cup tie with second tier Morton.

Murty, who has no managerial experience and has been coaching the Rangers youngsters this season, has now told The Scottish Sun that he has been receiving help from a mystery assistant, but won’t reveal who that coach is right now.
The former defender added that the Rangers players must control their attitude and performance levels regardless of the managerial situation, and is already looking ahead to Wednesday’s clash with St Johnstone as the Ibrox hierarchy take their time over a managerial appointment.
“I have been put in a very difficult position but the board have taken steps and I’ve been offered help,” said Murty. “I have taken advantage of that help which was kindly offered but at the moment that will remain private between me and the person who is helping me. I have to say, the person helping me doesn’t take away from the fact the players have to focus on what they can control.”
“They can just control their attitude and performance. The board will take their time to appoint the person they think should be in place at a time of their choosing. So until I’m told otherwise I will carry on doing what I’m doing for as long as they want me to do so. As far as I’m aware I’ll be preparing the players, we have to make sure we are ready and focused on Wednesday,” he added.
