St. Johnstone striker Stevie May will go up against Rangers colossus Connor Goldson tomorrow when the Saints take on the Gers in the Scottish Cup – with the Perth star looking forward to the challenge of facing the Ibrox side.
Goldson has played every minute of every game so far this season and is a serious contender for Player of the Year after his performances in a blue jersey, with May impressed by the former Brighton star’s improvement in recent seasons.
As well as his stellar performances in the league for Rangers, May has also beein impressed with the defender’s performances in Europe as the Gers reached the last 16 of the Europa League.
“He (Goldson) has been excellent and I think he has improved a lot since Gerrard has come in,” May said, as quoted by the Glasgow Times.
“You can see in Europe that he has done extremely well, as have all the players, and everyone in Scottish football has seen how well they can do on the European stage – It’s a credit to them.”
“They are playing extremely good football and getting results so it is going to be a fun game to go and try and get a result. I am looking forward to it.”
After the sides drew 1-1 i midweek, tomorrow’s meeting is much more likely to be an open affair with both sides knowing there needs to be a winner.
Whoever does win at Ibrox will be in with a fantastic chance of sealing a domestic double with Rangers having already won the title and Saints lifting the League Cup earlier this season.
