Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants his side’s performace against St. Johnstone to be “very much different” from the one in midweek after drawing 1-1 with the Saints on Wednesday night – with the Gers boss admitting his side “will look different” than they did on Wednesday night.

Gerrard made seven changes to the team that beat Celtic last weekend for the midweek clash in Perth as a host of fringe players came in to the starting XI.

The Gers will almost certainly revert back to a side closer to the one that faced Celtic and Gerrard is expecting the performance levels to increase for the Scottish Cup quarter-final tie.

“We tried to pick a team to win the game on Wednesday,” Gerrard said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “We obviously never saw the closing moments out in the right way and we were punished.

“But it was a fair result all in all.

“Now we are glad that game is out the way with no injuries or scares and we’re now in a good place going into the weekend.

“I want the performance to look very much different. The team will look different because I made a lot of changes in midweek and substitutions with one eye on this weekend.
