The Rangers winger hasn’t appeared for Steven Gerrard’s side since his debut at Ibrox last November.

Serge Atakayi of Rangers challenges Dougie Nyaupembe of Bury during the Pre-Season Friendly between Rangers and Bury at Ibrox Stadium on July 6, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Serge Atakayi’s latest Instagram post suggests the winger is finally back training with Rangers.

Atakayi suffered an injury on his competitive Rangers debut against Motherwell last November, and later underwent surgery after being pictured wearing a leg brace and walking on crutches.

But the young Fin was filmed moving freely again in a video posted online by his Rangers teammate, Dapo Mebude, at the start of January.

Still, it has taken the best part of six weeks for Atakayi to be passed fit for training, judging by the player’s most recent update, in which he wrote: “Finally Inshallah [God willing]”.

How long it will take before Atakayi returns to first-team contention remains to be seen.

But as much as Rangers would want to avoid relying on an inexperienced 20-year-old such as he, they could do having with him back sooner rather than later with attacking players Jamie Murphy and Alfredo Morelos still absent.

Can the youngster make an impact at Rangers this season?
