Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are set up for a title tilt.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are enjoying a superb start to the season.

The Gers look a force domestically, and have swept aside opposition up until now in the Europa League.

Critics can point to the fact it is only August, and Rangers should not get carried away just yet.

Gerrard would be right to keep his players’ feet on the ground, but the foundations have been laid for a successful season.

Last season Rangers were in touch in the title race heading into 2019.

A slump in February and March effectively killed off their title chances as Celtic pulled away.

Rangers’ challenge is to ensure this does not happen again, and the quality of their squad suggests they have addressed it.

Rangers have greater strength in depth compared to last year. Filip Helander is an upgrade on Joe Worrall.

New signings Andy King and Brandon Barker have barely kicked a ball for the club yet.

Even if it takes them until the second half of the season to establish themselves, Rangers are well set up to achieve their goals.

The competition for places raises the standard, and will help Rangers on the pitch.

Even players like George Edmondson who are not playing right now, could go onto have a crucial role as the season goes on.
