Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers brought Ovie Ejaria to Ibrox on loan from Liverpool.
Rangers have been quite busy this summer, and one of the players that new Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard has signed is Liverpool winger Ovie Ejaria, who played for Sunderland during the second half of the past season.
Ejaria, who scored one goal in nine Championship starts for Sunderland during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign, has joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old midfielder has arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation, and the Liverpool-owned youngster will be aiming to establish himself as an important player for Rangers in 2018-19.
Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has spoken highly of Ejaria, but the former England international midfielder has suggested that patience needs to be shown for the England Under-21 international.
Gerrard told Rangers’ official website: “With Ovie, I think it’s important we the crowd give him a bit of time to come up and adapt to the surroundings. He will be coming up alone without his family, and he will be joining us in Spain.
“I think with time, and we will obviously work him in at the right time and the right speed, but in terms of talent, in terms of someone who can get a fan on the edge of their seat and in terms of someone who has got tonnes of ability just waiting to admire, we feel he is ready to burst.
“But, he will have to be managed and put in at the right time, but he is one I am confident can excite the fans here and I know the fans want exciting players to watch.”
Hope and Optimism
Ejaria was not exactly great during his loan spell at Sunderland, but the midfielder’s performances were encouraging.
As Gerrard suggests, the 20-year-old needs to be shown patience, and Rangers fans must be behind him and give him support and encouragement.
