Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has signed Ryan Kent on loan from Liverpool, and Jim O’Brien has compared the Ibrox winger to Sunderland’s Aiden McGeady.

Rangers have signed Kent on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old winger has arrived at Rangers with a strong reputation and will be looking to establish himself in Steven Gerrard’s first team.
Ross County winger O’Brien played with Kent for a year at Coventry City, and the 30-year-old former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has spoken highly of the youngster and has compared him to Sunderland winger McGeady.
McGeady, who has been at Sunderland since the summer of 2017, started his professional club football career at Celtic and won the league title three times with the Hoops before the 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international winger left for Spartak Moscow in 2010.
O’Brien told The Scottish Sun about Kent: “Ryan really reminded me of a young Aiden McGeady.
“He has a trick or three, and is that kind of player who is impossible to predict. He leads you one way, then goes the other and leaves you for dead.
“When McGeady was at Celtic he was absolutely brilliant at bamboozling defenders. Kenty is not scared to take players on and run at them with the ball at his feet.
“He’s one of those tricky wingers, really exciting, and can breeze past people with the minimum of effort. Kenty is a player everybody wants to watch and he has blistering pace.”

Achieving success at Rangers
Kent is still relatively unproven, but there is no doubt that the Liverpool-owned winger is hugely talented and promising.
Rangers fans should be looking forward to watching the England Under-20 international winger in action at Ibrox next season.
