Rangers have tied up another young signing after finalising a deal for Leicester City talent Calvin Bassey on Saturday evening.
The Gers won the race to sign Northern Irish talent Charlie Lindsay on Friday, and they’ve added another new face.
Full back Bassey has turned down a new deal with Leicester, and has now penned a pre-contract agreement to join Rangers on a four-year deal.
The 20-year-old has been coming through the Leicester ranks. However, he has now decided to leave in search of greater first-team opportunities at Ibrox.
Despite rumours over Ben Chilwell’s future, Bassey seemingly feels he won’t break through at Leicester. The Express add that Rangers have beaten Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham United to his signature.
That’s an exciting move for Rangers. With Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan both leaving this summer, Bassey may have a chance to offer cover to Borna Barisic at left back.
After sealing his move to Glasgow, Bassey spoke to the Rangers official website – and admitted that he knew Rangers were the right club for him as soon as he entered talks with them.

Bassey added that he has heard plenty about the ‘amazing’ atmosphere at Ibrox, and can’t wait to get started under Steven Gerrard.
“I am delighted to join Rangers and secure my future at a club of such stature,” said Bassey. “When I entered talks with Rangers, I knew this club was right for me. Of course I am thankful for everything Leicester has done for me and I am now very excited about working under Steven Gerrard and his coaching team to continue my progression.
“I have heard about the amazing atmosphere at Ibrox. I can’t wait to start pre-season and take my career to the next level in the famous blue Rangers jersey,” he added.
