Glasgow Rangers have announced that Borna Barisic has become the latest player to arrive at Ibrox this summer.

Barisic has become the Gers’ 11th signing of the summer, with the club confirming that he has signed a four-year deal. Despite spending his entire career to date in Croatia, he is no stranger to Steven Gerrard and the Gers, having lined up and scored against the Scottish Premiership side for Osijek in the Europa League.
And after completing his move to Ibrox, Barisic insisted that he was looking forward to linking up with countryman and fellow summer signing Katic in the Rangers back-line.

“This club will give me the chance to play in the national team, yes.”
It certainly appears to be a very exciting deal for the Gers to get the 25-year-old through the door. Jon Flanagan has performed well at left-back during the early stages of the season, but appears to be slightly less confident using his left foot and that seems to occasionally leave him reluctant to get down the line – though that is not always the case.

It will be interesting to see what Barisic’s arrival means for the rest of the full-backs in Rangers’ squad, as well as the likes of Katic in the middle. Gerrard should now be able to utilise Flanagan’s versatility a lot more, while Barisic himself may also be able to help in the middle if required.
Whatever defensive lineup Gerrard plans to go with, there is no question that the deal for Barisic is a further reminder that the Gers have turned one of their biggest weaknesses from last season into one of their greatest strengths.
