If and when Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers sign Glen Kamara this month, it’s an amazing deal.

Rangers fans should be excited about the signing of Glen Kamara.

If one of your targets is being compared to Patrick Vieira, it’s probably a good thing.

According to The Sun, the 23-year-old, who has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers after impressing with Dundee in recent years, could arrive at Ibrox this month instead of next summer.

And comments from his manager Neil McCann indicate that the Gers will have an absolute gem on their hands.

He told The Daily Record: “He was like a mini Patrick Vieira the way he got about the pitch. He’d fling the big leg across, he’d change direction, you couldn’t get the ball off him. He was strong, he took the ball anywhere he wanted to really.

“I thought, ‘Right, let’s get this deal done!’. So we took him in and got it done. Ten minutes was all it took. It didn’t take me long to realise this boy was going to be a player and he’s just gone on from there to get better and better.

“But trust me, there is so much more to come from him.”

Rangers Manager, Steven Gerrard gives his team instructions during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League between Celtic and at Ibrox Stadium on December 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

McCann is right. Kamara is still only 23 years of age, which means that Rangers can look forward to having him in their midfield for potentially many years to come.

The 44-year-old manager wouldn’t be talking up the former Arsenal youth as much as this if he didn’t believe in his ability wholeheartedly.

McCann’s comments should warm the hearts of Rangers fans, especially given that so many midfielders have arrived at Ibrox and failed to deliver in recent years.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard knew how great Vieira was, having squared off against him many times, and if Kamara is even half as gifted as the France legend then the Premiership side will be signing a seriously top player.
